Farewell

Well, today's probably my last day here on Runescape until I get back from my trip. With enough luck, I should be able to get hold of an Internet connection while in Australia, but I still will only be able to play for limited times during my vacation.

It's quite sad considering the fact that Jagex is likely to release the new Hunting skill tomorrow (or on Tuesday). I'll have to miss it and wait; I think it's time I come to terms with that.

Anyway, on a lighter note, I ended everything rather well. There were a few goals I had set out to fulfill before leaving Singapore, and I was really successful in achieving them. I easily managed to reach 80 million total exp, lvl 96 Woodcutting (my target was only 95 actually), lvl 92 Farming, and lvl 107 for Combat. I even managed to gain a Strength lvl today as a bonus.

I'm now 1 lvl closer to that achievement cape.
That's quite a lot I've done ever since the school holidays started. I should remind myself of these achievements during those bored afternoons in Australia.

Booorring

A very dull day. I only stuck to Woodcutting since it required the least clicking.

I was interuptted by the random shutting down of my computer. It seemed that the plug wasn't connected properly, so there were a couple times when the computer just went black and switched off by itself. I was also doing my English homework when this happened, but I was really lucky that nothing was lost.

Well since there's nothing else left to talk about, I'll just make this an unusually short post and end things here.

Fan Art

I switched to a new version of Blogger just a few days ago on Sunday night. Turns out that it sucks.

The layout's better than the original version I used, but it had somehow altered the coding of my blog.

Previously, there were a few lines of code which prevented the Blogger Navbar located above the title from appearing. The code doesn't work now; the Navbar's back and it's blocking part of the Blog's title! I've also had a bit of difficulty publishing my last post. I had trouble leaving spaces in between paragraphs and the screenshots I uploaded. To those of you who have blogs, you have been warned! The new version is rubbish.

One of the funnier pieces I found in the Player Gallery.

On a lighter note, back in Runescape, I'm way ahead of schedule in the training of my Woodcutting. If I keep this up, I should be able to manage yet another lvl up before I head off to Australia. My combat stats are also doing quite well. In fact, I reached lvl 107 today after I lvled my Attack to 86 while playing Pest Control.

Asides from this, nothing out of the ordinary happened today. No updates, nothing; although Jagex gave players an extra 24 slots of bankspace in preparation for Hunting earlier this week. They've also released this month's "Player Gallery" addition which is actually just a gallery for fan art. The pieces of art work were brilliant; a player had even done a "self-portrait" of her character, anime stlye. Can't wait for next month's fan art.

Not sure how this one was done, but I love it!

So much Exp!

A pool of Ectoplasm

A couple of days back, I was given some Dragon Bones as well as some other stuff by a guy who wanted to buy my Ranarr Weeds.

I considered selling the bones at first, but since I'd still be making a huge profit regardless of whether I sell them or not, I decided to keep and use them in the end. Because they were really expensive, I could not afford to waste them just by simply burying them and getting low Prayer exp. So I took them to the Ectofunctus, and by doing so, I was able to get 4 times the exp I would have gotten for burying them.

The green structure I'm bowing down to is the Ectofunctus.

This method of obtaining Prayer exp from bones is quite simple although time consuming. You first put in a pile of bones into a machine known as the bone grinder. By turning a wheel, my character was able to crush the sets of bones and then place them into pots. I then had to gather several bucketfuls of a green liquid known as ectoplasm. After gathering the two "ingridients", I had to place them into a strange looking structure known as the Ectofunctus and then "worship" it to get the exp.

My character using the Bone Grinder.

This is a very economical way to get Prayer exp. It takes longer than simply burying the bones, but could save you a great deal of money. I even managed a lvl up today for Prayer!

I was also fortunate enough to finally hit lvl 95 Woodcutting. It was very tedious work; it took me hours and hours of clicking before I got that "your Woodcutting is now level 95" message. I'm very proud of it, but I really regret the fact that my progress for this skill is very likely to slow down in the following one and a half months or so.
With the release new Hunting skill and my 3 week long vacation to keep me pre-occupied, this was really to be expected. However, I am drawing ever closer to lvl 99, so I estimate that should have this skill maxed out by the end of Febuarary next year.

Pointless Speculation

My character tending to a Hops Patch.

First off, I managed to get into the top English class! Yes!!! Yay! Woohoo! Go me! Okay well, with that aside, I've also been doing quite well in Runescape.

Just yesterday, I finally got round to planting and occupying every single Farming patch. What is the significance of this? Well, I've been planning to do this for some time now since seeing nothing but a bunch of weeds can be quite boring. I have also managed to unlock a few hot-air balloon routes, namely the ones that lead to Varrock, the Castle Wars Arena and the Crafting Guild. As mentioned in my previous post, I'll have no choice but to put off navigating the route to the Grand Tree since I need lvl 75 Firemaking which I currently do not have.

I was unable to get any trades today partly because of my laziness as well as the fact that my friends' list was down for several hours. This was really unfortunate for my chef friend, Reuben Sa, since I have been unable to get any Raw Sharks for him to cook; but at least my Ranarr Seed supply is still adequate.

Before I close off, there is also one other thing I forgot to mention in my last post. The price of Red Partyhats has dropped by quite an alarming amount. I think players might be getting a little paranoid about Hunting, a new skill which will be released later this month. The last skill that was released, Construction, made players spend loads of cash in order to train it.

A screenshot of the Poison Ivy Bush I grew.

This greatly affected the Runescape economy, and caused prices of items like partyhats to plummet dramatically (they eventually made a quick recovery though). People are probably starting to worry that this could happen once more with Hunting and are trying to get rid of the partyhats they own before it is too late. Definitely a good idea, if it wasn't for the fact that their prices have dropped as a result of this. I doubt this new skill will be like Construction, so hopefully, partyhats will make another fast comeback after Hunting has been released.

Some Potential in Ballooning?

Besides the constant worrying of tomorrow's class posting results, it was a pretty typical day today.

I decided to do a bit of research on hot-air ballooning and found out that after using 10 logs and navigating through a route to a certain place, that particular route becomes more easily accessible since only 1 log and no navigating would be involved during future trips. It's a lot more convinient than I first thought! This has really gotten me interested in the whole concept of ballooning.

The route to the Grand Tree is, unfortunately, off limits for me right now since I need to burn Magic logs for the trip, which requires lvl 75 Firemaking (really far off from my lowly lvl 66). Still, there are a few other destinations to choose from, and I hope to unlock all of them by tomorrow. With enough luck, navigating won't be such a pain in the ass. It took me a total of 5 tries to finally reach Taverly during the quest! That definitely wasted a lot of time.

Balloons During the Medieval Ages?!

Because I created this post at 12 AM, the date is displayed as the 8th of November. Please take note that the events mentioned below are supposed to be for the 7th.

A new quest, An Enlightened Journey, was released last night about some ex-monk attempting to create a new system of travel, hot-air ballooning. I completed the first part of the quest last night and resumed doing it today.

Me and Auguste, the ex-monk, standing side by side

It seemed quite okay I guess; the only thing that put me off was the fact that hot-air balloons were non-existant during the Medieval Ages. Since Runescape "occurs" during that period of time, well... It just doesn't seem appropriate. Jagex really should've considered the importance of not breaking the theme of the game before they created and released this quest.

My first few attempts to pilot a hot-air balloon failed miserably.

On the upside, I do not have any other complaints about this quest. It may have lacked a storyline, but its sole purpose was to introduce ballooning to Runescape so a proper plot really wasn't neccesary.

My reward for completing the "An Elightened Journey" quest

The quest also gives Firemaking, a stat generally considered useless, another use. It seems that in order to travel by a hot-air balloon, you must have a certain Fireamking lvl in order to burn the wood used for creating the hot air. Different destinations require different types of wood, so you need to be highly proficient in this skill in order to make full use of this new mode of transportation.

Late Halloween Celebration

My new Halloween costume

I overslept today and it was completely my fault. I was up until 5 AM and then I went to bed and got up at around 11.15 AM. Still, I was able to get quite a bit of work done in Runescape today.

I spent most of my time training Slayer; I managed to get it to lvl 74 too. It was pretty fun I guess, way better than chopping wood all day at least. My Defence lvl also rose while I was fighting my slayer assignment monsters.

Die, ghost! (well, all ghosts are already dead, but you get the idea)

Besides stat building; after a few days of procrastinating, I finally decided to finish that Halloween holiday event. Diango, the toy maker, had stolen some wood from the haunted Draynor Manor in order to make some toys for this year's Halloween. Unfortunately, the wood was possessed by ghosts from the mansion so every single toy made from it also became haunted. The workshop which was used to build the toys had also been affected, and a huge haunted tree has started growing in it.

The haunted tree that was growing inside Diango's toy workshop

As usual, my character had to help out, and I was given the task of "busting" the ghosts as well as chopping of the roots of the haunted tree. A very interesting concept by Jagex. I also liked the reward Diango gave me after I had helped him out. I can't wait for the Christmas event.

Home At Last!

Finally! I'm back home!!! The camp wasn't really much fun; hell the thing sucked. The bitchy instructors, the strainous activities, the crappy bathrooms, the stupid weather, the over-crowded tents and the fucker who kept snoring all drove me to the brink of madness. To put it simply, I hated the camp and so did EVERYONE else.

At least I was able to resume playing as soon as I arrived home (after a long shower and a proper meal of course). There were no new updates released while I was away, but this month's "Behind the Scenes" edition has been included on the Runescape News page. Two new quests will be released, and Jagex is going to continue working on the game's graphics. I'm definitely looking forward to that, but the thing that really caught my attention was the mentioning of a new skill being released.

Jagex said that yet another skill, Hunting, would be added to Runescape later this month. I'm really excited about this; it just seems so quick. I mean, Construction was released barely 6 months ago and now they're planning to release another skill so soon? I'm not complaining but that's just crazy!

I definitely can't wait for Hunting. The only problem is that I'll be in Australia by the time the skill is released, and will probably be back over two weeks later! This means that I won't be able to enjoy training this new skill until sometime after it is released. I can't go cold turkey from Runescape for that long, especially not during this crucial period of time! Argh, that really sucks!

Nevermind, I'll just have to train like mad as soon as I get back. It'll only be a matter of time before my rank rises to that of a decent number. I'm going to kick ass like I did for Farming and Construction when they were released. Watch out Runescapers! Timmy Gold really means business this time!
